Annan Voices Concern at Flights by Israel over Lebanese Airspace

New York, May 9 2005 7:00PM

United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan today voiced concern about Israeli overflights into Lebanese airspace, reminding the parties of the fragile situation in Lebanon and the wider region.

Mr. Annan reiterated his call on the Israeli authorities to end the overflights, a UN spokesman said in a statement.

"He urges all parties to fully respect the Blue Line and reminds them that one violation of the Blue Line cannot justify another," the statement said, referring to the line marking the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its northern neighbour.
