Citizen Puts Life on Hold to Defeat President Bush
Citizen Puts Life on Hold to Defeat President Bush in 2004.
Worcester, MA (PRWEB) January 21 2004-—Michael John Dobbins, once a regular citizen with a stable job and ordinary life, has given up everything in the hope of defeating President Bush this November. Dobbins, 26, worked as a teacher at an outdoor education center in Massachusetts before quitting his job in June to work full time defeating the President. He now has a book “Stop Bush in 2004” and a website www.StopBushin2004.com to help citizens take action against Bush and elect a new President.
“Quitting my job and becoming a full time activist was the best decision of my life.” States Dobbins, who worked as a banker in Michigan before coming out east to teach. “Electing a new President is essential to the future of America. We can’t afford four more years of Bush’s disastrous economic, environmental, and foreign policy.”
To supplement his lost income and motivate others into taking action, Dobbins wrote and self-published “Stop Bush in 2004: How Every Citizen Can Help” through iUniverse. The book describes nearly every method of action a citizen can take to influence a Presidential Campaign. To promote the book and the “Stop Bush” message, Dobbins has appeared on numerous radio programs throughout the country, from the Mike Webb show in Seattle to the Steve Kass show in Providence.
Dobbins’ has taken his activism online with www.StopBushin2004.com. In November the website published ’10 Preliminary Actions,’ a concise list of actions citizens can take now to make a difference in the election. MichaelMoore.com, Buzzflash.com, Democrats.com, and over 30 other websites have promoted the ’10 Preliminary Actions.’ In addition, over 480 citizens have already signed on to participate with www.StopBushin2004.com during the Presidential Campaign.
"People are happy to see a regular citizen taking a stand and empowering others to do the same. Most of all, citizens are ready to take action against President Bush; and I’m more than happy to help them.”
Dobbins’ points to his previous activism experience in preparing him for his role as a full time activist. During the 2000 Presidential Campaign he conducted a one-man protest of then Governor Bush for not allowing fair debates and volunteered for the Ralph Nader Presidential Campaign. In his college days, Dobbins founded a student organization to aide developing countries. And as a teacher, he developed and taught a class educating students on how they can become activists.
Dobbins will continue his efforts to defeat President Bush through out the entire calendar year. “Though I’d love to be teaching and living a normal life, being a full time activist is meaningful and enjoyable work.” states Dobbins. “ I know all citizens can’t become as politically involved as I have, but I hope they realize the importance of taking some sort of action. We have the power, and the responsibility, to change things.”
