Palestinian Boy Dies of Wounds as IOF Critically Wounds Palestinian and Arrests Political Figure

NABLUS, Palestine -- A Palestinian child was pronounced dead today after being shot by the Israeli occupying troops and fell into coma in the West Bank city of Nablus, while a senior political figure was arrested in the city, while the Israeli occupying forces (IOF) shot and wounded a Palestinian citizen critically and demolished several houses in a refugee camp near Rafah.

Palestinian medical sources in the city of Nablus announced today that Noureddin Emran, 16, who was shot yesterday by the Israeli occupying troops in the Balata refugee camp, died today of the wounds he sustained. Emran was shot with a rubber-coated bullet in his head and fell into coma.

Earlier in the city of Nablus, IOF troops raided on early hour of Sunday at 03:00am (01:00 GMT)in Al Makhfeya neighborhood in the city and arrested Adnan Asfour, member in the political leadership of the Islamic resistance movement (Hamas).

Asfour, 38, was staying in his brother's house when IOF raided it. The occupying troops also raided several apartment buildings near the house, which were used as student dormitories near the Al Najah University. The troops arrested Yazan Awad, a student in the university and led him into an undisclosed location, eyewitnesses told IPC correspondent.

For the seventh consecutive day, the city of Nablus remains a closed military zone, according to Israeli military officials, and for that reason, IOF troops tightened their measures in the city, by placing mobile roadblocks, imposing curfews and detaining Palestinian citizens for several hours.

Meanwhile in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian hospital officials in the city of Rafah told IPC correspondent that Jamal Abu Ziyada, 38, was wounded critically in the back, as a result of being shot by IOF tanks and armored vehicles, which opened heavy and random gunfire at Palestinian homes in the Yebna refugee camp in the city.

As well, more than 10 IOF tanks and armored vehicles escorting several military D-9 bulldozers demolished several partially-destroyed Palestinian homes and a Palestinian security service post, Palestinian security sources and eyewitnesses said.

The Israeli forces invaded the area early this morning, amidst heavy and indiscriminate gunfire and supported by combat helicopters, and then the bulldozers started leveling several Palestinian homes and a security post with the ground. The houses were previously damaged by the occupying forces in a previous invasion of the camp.
