PM Qurei’: Apartheid Wall Most Hideous Breach Ever Known In History
RAMALLAH -- The Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmad Qurei’ (Abu Ala'a) asserted on Sunday that the Apartheid Wall built by
Israel poses the most unprecedented horrendous violation ever known in history.
In an exclusive interview with WAFA News Agency, PM Qurei’ harshly scolded the illegal colonial expansion of Jewish
settlement that was harmonized with the unleashing of the Israeli offensive and isolation of Jerusalem that “turned any
space of talking over an independent Palestinian state and peace worthless and gibberish,” PM Qurei’ said.
“Undoubtedly, we are passing through a very crucial phase grimed with ventures, marring with the endless Israeli
government military escalation and blind support to Israel by the superior powers, particularly the United States.”
He added “even though the Palestinian people is being victimized on daily basis and our internationally recognized
legitimate rights are being violated, the blame is always regretfully placed squarely at the Palestinian people. It is
really incredible. The entire world has to see the true fact of the Israeli offensive on ground.”
The terrible situation has been stalemate as it coincided with “the forged cliché repeatedly spouted out by the Israeli
government “fighting terror “ to justify the mass killing of the Palestinians and wide devastation in the West Bank and
Gaza Strip,” PM Qurei’ was quoted saying in an interview with WAFA.
Mr. Qurei’ commended the UN General Assembly resolution adopted last week that viewed the Apartheid Wall as illegal and
contradicts all the international norms and conventions, as well as a second resolution, asking the International Court
of Justice in the Hague for a legal opinion about the legitimacy of this wall.
“This is the first time the Palestinian cause requests an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice in
The Hague. This proceeding is important.”
Asked about the international resolutions backing the Palestinian cause but have not been yet put in effect, Abu Ala'a
pointed out “this will never impress our determination to realize our legitimate national rights.” He added that the
Israeli government usually deride and slam the UN body and its resolutions.
As for the tattered “Road Map” peace plan, the Palestinian premiere emphasized that the “Road Map” has been flawed of
the frequent blows dealt to it by the Israeli government and the neglect of its auspices. "The Quartet could do more
than what really have been done but apparently it has weak willingness to move in such a way, not to mention the Israeli
military strikes and raids against the Palestinian people, shattering any chance to restore calmness on the ground," Abu
Ala'a said.
“We have publicly accepted the “Road Map” and stuck to our obligations as mandated by it, had the Israelis met their
undertakings. But if the Israelis want to deal with it on the basis that the Palestinians have to act first, this is
impossible,” PM Qurei’ told WAFA.
He asserted “the Israelis have obligations that should be met and we also have ours and will live up to our obligations
in compliance with our capabilities, nothing could goad into either Palestinian-Palestinian fighting or a civil war. The
Palestinian blood is forbidden from being shed by other Palestinians.”
About the international custodianship project discussed by the European parliament, PM Qurei’ made clear that the
project is still under discussion. The goal-driven “Road Map” peace plan is the most serious, as the five permanent
member states of the UN Security Council, Non-aligned States and the Organization of the Islamic Conference backed it.
“The "Road Map" is not the solution but it envisages a phased-blueprint to reach a solution,” Qurei’ remarked.
As for striking a ceasefire agreement (Hudna), PM Qurei’ said that one provision of the "Road Map" is that the
Palestinian people have to cease all forms of violence, and article directly following it reassured that the Israelis
have to halt all forms of violence. “The Israeli incursions, mass killings, and havoc have to halt. If Israel does so, I
think progress can be made.”
