Israeli Troops Incur into Jenin and Khan Younis, Arrest Civilians
PALESTINE, September 21,2003 (IPC+WAFA)--Israeli occupation forces incurred Sunday into two Palestinian cities in West Bank and Gaza Strip as well as arrested a number of civilians in another West Bank village.
In the West Bank city of Jenin, dozens of Israeli occupation tanks and armored vehicles thrust into the eastern part of the city under the cover of military helicopters.
Local Palestinain sources told WAFA News Agency that the Israeli troops began searching several Palestinian-owned houses, messing up with furniture. No more details were reported.
In the Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, IPC correspondent said that Israeli occupation forces swept into the Qizan Alnajjar neighborhood, southeast of Khan Younis city, and that accompanying bulldozers, under heavy gun fire, began razing Palestinain-owned lands.
Abu Ahmad Alshae’r, a local inhabitant, said that the Israeli tanks have been over the past few days incurring frequently into their area, under a barrage of heavy shooting.
He added that the Israeli tanks advance usually from the nearby illegitimate Jewish settlement of Moraj, which is established on Palestinian-owned lands.
Local Palestinain sources confirmed that the Israeli incursions and razing of lands have so far destroyed more that 60 dunums of lands owned by the Almasry, Sha’ath and Alsha’r families.
In the meantime, local sources in the West Bank city of Orief, west of Nablus, said that at least three Palestinian inhabitants were arrested Sunday morning by the Israeli soldiers at a military checkpoint.
The arrested civilians were identified as Ahmad Alsafadi, 30, Yousef Alsafadi,24, and his brother Amer. They all have been taken to unknown destination, the sources added.
