National Council of Churches Refugee Week: Cafe at the Gate of Salvation Performance

To mark the start of refugees week, world famous Sydney gospel choir, Cafe at the Gate of Salvation, will sing at St John's Anglican Church, Darlinghust next Sunday August 24 at 9.30am. The performance will be part of St John's regular Sunday morning service and will include a talk by refugee activist Sister Susan Connelly.

For The Cafe it's are rare public performance and an even rarer one in a church. Founder, Tony Blackhouse is internationally recognised for his committment and expertise in gospel music.

The Church is one of sydneys oldest and most interesting. Its common to see a judge and a homeless person kneeling side by side at the altar rail. St Johns is also one of sydney's most progressive local churches, with a great deal of its energy going into work with Darlinghurst homeless, and refugees.
