News Flash: Balata 2 Taken By Army
Balata Refugee Camp
Activists Dragged From House To Be Demolished
One British Citizen and One Swedish Citizen Chain Themselves to House to Protest Collective Punishment—Israeli Military Arrests Both
Two international activists were dragged handcuffed and blindfolded out of the house of Abu Salim in Balata refugee camp, outside Nablus. The two were a part of a team of five activists working to save the house of the Abu Salim family from destruction. The Israeli army attempted to destroy the house last night, only to be successfully deterred by the internationals. They returned tonight with a force of over seven jeeps, including well over forty soldiers.
This morning, eyewitness accounts inform that the soldiers threatened to kill the activists chained to the second floor of the house. As of this writing, reports place the two internationals at Ariel police station.
Further information, still footage and video of the standoff will be posted to www.palsolidarity.org as soon as they become available.
The International Solidarity Movement is a Palestinian-led non- violent initiative against the illegal occupation, with the aide of international volunteers.
