Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas receives a telephone call from the US president Bush.
In his first telephone conversation with the US president George W. Bush, the Palestinian Prime Minister Mr. Mahmoud
Abbas (Abu Mazen) calls upon president Bush to exert his effort to make Israel to accept the Road-Map for peace, while
renewing the Palestinian commitment towards the plan proposed by the international Quartet.
Abu Mazen expressed his deep concerns towards the recent Israeli escalation of violence wich add more blood to the
continuing cycle of violence, calling upon President Bush to press on Israel to end its incursions to the Palestinian
areas, to lift the unjustified continuing siege imposed on President Arafat, to enable the Palestinian population to
move freely and to end all colonial settlement activities.
Mr. Abu Mazen also stressed the need to release all prisoners and to stop building the wall of separation in the
occupied West Bank. “The Palestinian National Authority shall continue its financial and security reform program” he
said, stressing that any further development depends on the Israeli clear acceptance of the Road-Map, and ending all
acts of aggression against the Palestinian People.
From his part, the president Bush reiterated his vision for "two states living side by side in peace,"
"The president stressed the need for all parties to take concrete steps and called for cooperative efforts between all
Arab parties and Israel to create the conditions for peace and security in the Middle East”.
Both president Bush and Prime Minister Abu Mazen Condemn killing innocent civilians, affirming that violence shall not
undermine the work for peace.
