Israel Must Accept Roadmap For Violence To Stop

Minister Shaath : Israeli acceptance of the “roadmap” is key to controlling and ending the violence

The Palestine National Authority (PNA) minister of foreign affairs Nabil Sha’ath who arrived in Cairo from Amman on Sunday, said that he delivered a letter to Mubarak from Arafat in which the Palestinian President “Abu Ammar explained to President Mubarak the situation in Palestinian territories, the extent of the Israeli escalation aiming at blocking any serious attempt to reach a real peace in the region.”

Adding that he told Egyptian President Mubarak that “it is necessary to start an urgent Egyptian and Arab effort to save the life of the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat.” For Abu Mazen -Sharon meeting , minister Sha’ath said Abbas told Sharon that Israel must accept and implement the Middle East peace “roadmap” before the PNA can be expected to disarm Palestinian groups that are responsible for bombing attacks against Israel.

Dr.Sha’ath said Israeli acceptance of the “roadmap” is key to controlling and ending the violence.

“Once that commitment from Israel comes, we will all work together in order to achieve a full and immediate cease-fire, not through a civil war with Palestinians, but through a full commitment of the Palestinians,” he said.
