UPDATE 2 - Australian Defence Force support to Bali explosion victims
The first C130 to arrive in Darwin at approximately 2:30am (EST) carried a total of 15 evacuees, with 3 of the evacuees in intensive care, 5 on stretchers and 7 walk on (less seriously injured) patients.
The second aircraft arrived at approximately 7:10am (EST) in Darwin carrying a total of 22 evacuees, with two of the evacuees in intensive care, 19 on stretchers and one walk on patient.
These first two aero-medical evacuations consisted solely of Australian Nationals.
At approximately 12:35pm (EST), the third Air Force C130 Hercules arrived in Darwin carrying 15 casualties, the condition of these casualties is currently unknown.
At approximately 1:05pm (EST), a fourth C130 arrived in Darwin carrying 12 casualties, nine on stretchers and three walk on patients.
A total of four C130 aircraft and associated aero-medical evacuation teams have been deployed to Darwin from RAAF Richmond to assist with the evacuation.
To-date a total of 64 evacuees have been transported by the ADF from Denpasar to Darwin.
A fifth C130 Aircraft carrying medical supplies is due to arrive in Darwin later this evening from Richmond.
One P3C Orion aircraft deployed Australian Federal Police and additional consular DFAT staff from Canberra to Bali and arrived in Darwin at approximately 8:00am(EST) this morning carrying less seriously injured patients.
The ADF's ongoing priority is to get seriously injured people from Bali to Darwin.
Any further ADF commitment will be considered by Government in close consultation with Defence as updates to the situation are received. A small number of ADF members were on leave somewhere in Bali at the time of the blasts. We are in the process of identifying and verifying where these people are. It has been confirmed that two ADF members have been injured. One is in a serious condition and the other has minor injuries.
