Military Spokesman On US/UK Bombing Raids

Baghdad, Sept. 17, INA
The US and British warplanes violated Iraq’s airspace in a desperate bid to Impair solid will of Iraqis and undermine Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity .
A spokesman for Air Defense Command told INA that at 0925 h on Monday the US and British warplanes violated Iraq’s space coming from their bases in Saudi Arabia.
He added that the enemy ravens carried out 50 armed sorties and patrolled civil areas in al-Lassaf , as-Salman , al- Bassiya , al- Jeleba , al- Najaf , Kala’t Saleh , al- Ekhedher , Shanafiya , Nassirrya Artawi . Taqtaqanat Na’maniya , and al-Umara .
“” Iraq’s defense units repulsed the enemy planes and forced them to retreat to bases in Kuwait ’’ , He further added.
The total number of the armed sorties mounted by the US and British warplanes against Iraq coming from bases in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Turkey since Dec. 17, 1998 till now reached 42611 sorties.
