The Oceania Sub Regional Advisory Committee of Public Services International (PSI), held in Auckland this week,
resolved:
1. Regrets that the chief executive of Airports Fiji Limited (AFL) unilaterally withdrew recognition of the Fiji Public
Service Association as a collective bargaining agent, in violation of sections 32 and 33 of the Fiji Constitution and
its labour laws and ILO Convention 98.
2. It calls on the Fiji Government, which wholly covers the AFL, to honour the recognition already granted by the
Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations and Productivity. It urges the Minister to issue an order to AFL to comply with
recognition already granted by his Ministry and that the AFL respect the collective agreement which is still in force.
3. The meeting fully supports the international solidarity action that has been organised by the Fiji TUC and the Fiji
Public Service Association and backs the call for air and shipping sanctions against Fiji unless the matter is quickly
resolved.
