Marines from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Units landed by helicopters near the City of Kandahar in Afghanistan today. The Marines are establishing a base of operations in the vacinity of Kandahar for a variety of follow-on operations including road interdiction. The 15th MEU is a member of the Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) aboard the USS Peleliu.
