PLO President Yasser Arafat met today in Gaza with the Greek Foreign Minster Mr. George Papandreou.
In joint press conference after the meeting the President told reporters that the Israeli government are "trying to take advantage of the world's attention of the tragedy and terrorists attacks in the USA in order to escalate their military aggression, against our cities, towns, people and our Muslims and Christians holy places."
The President added that he discussed with Mr. Papandreou the Israeli decision to cancel his meeting today with the Israeli foreign Minister Shimon Peres .
"I told my friend Mr. Papandreou that we are ready to meet with Peres any where and any time even in Greece if that's possible and if that will help to revive the peace process and to push it forward because what is going on is not only against Palestinians, it's against the whole region," the President said.
On his part Mr. Papandreou said that: "now is the time that no one can take advantage against another one. It’s the time that we all have to take advantage to push forward the peace process ... we need to see the peace process revived again. We need political solutions, we need to go beyond violence and to work together for a permanent peaceful solution."
About a possible meeting between the President and Mr. Peres , the minister said. "The meeting should take place, if not today it should be tomorrow or as soon as possible because it is very important."
