CRW had a `Parliament Plan' - military psychologist
The Counter Revolutionary Warfare Unit had a Parliament plan, it has now been revealed
Today's Fiji Sun carries an interview with the military's psychologist, Father Makario Waqanivalu who says that most of the soldiers involved in the mutiny on 2 November "were not part of the Parliament plan".
For the first time it has been publicly stated that the CRW had a `parliament plan'. The plan refers to taking the elected government hostage.
Fr. Waqanivalu also stated of the CRW mutineers "What seems obvious is that someone gave the order. They would not have acted alone. They only act for someone whom they trust and believe." Military officers state that only the immediate commander of the troops is given this respect and allegiance.
The CRW was created by former military commander and former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. Some terrorists had informed the hostages that one of their leaders was Rabuka but he let them down by failing to turn up at the required time. The CRW was trained by Ilisoni Ligairi, who is now detained on treason charges, as well as Filipo Tarakinikini who was implicated by the military in the 2 November mutiny.
Ft. Waqanivalu stated of the mutineers leader and the reasons: "Only they have the answer, we can speculate". Fr. Waqanivalu was responsible for counselling the CRW soldiers after the CRW unit was disbanded by the Military Commander Com. Voreqe Bainimarama.
