Losers Behind All The Trouble - Indigenous Teacher

Losers Behind All The Trouble - Indigenous Teachers Boss

Issue No: 406 23 January 2001

Those losing the1999 national election were behind the troubles besieging Fiji, says the Fijian Teachers Union General Secretary.

According to a report in today's Daily Post, speaking at a teachers conference in Australia, Maika Namuda stated:

"I wish to reiterate that the reason for [the terrorist activities] was that certain people who had lost power in the last elections, deliberately incited the indigenous people to stage demonstrations and to assist with the removal of an [ethnic] Indian-led Government on the erroneous basis that the indigenous rights for the Fijians have been violated and have not been provided for in the 1997 Constitution".

Namuda further stated that the people behind the terrorists deliberately misled the ethnic Fijians on land matters. He stated: "The perpetrators of the coup hence utilised [land] and as they knew that most indigenous people were not well informed, these perpetrators were able to brain-wash the Fijians".

Namuda joins an increasing number of ethnic Fijian professionals and activists who are now exposing the motives behind the people supporting the terrorists.
