Instability Due To Lack Of Constitutional Rule - Commonwealth

The Commonwealth of Nations has stated that the breakdown in law and order and the instability in Fiji are due to the lack of a constitutional democracy.
A statement by the Commonwealth's Secretary General, Don McKinnon, on the attempted coup of 2 November said that the Thursday attempt was symptomatic of instability due to the breakdown of constitutional democracy.
He called on all Fiji citizens to help restore constitutional democracy and the rule of law. He further stated that the Commonwealth of Nations was willing to provide all assistance necessary to restore constitutional democracy
The regime has not commented on the offer by the Commonwealth.
