A selection of useful links for monitoring in the run-up to the US Presidential elections on November 7th.
Presidential Debates:
Commission on Presidential Debates
http://www.debates.org/
Official site for info on the debates; good source for history, qualifications, process, site selection, members.
Electoral College:
There is a great site for MAPS at:
Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections
http://www.uselectionatlas.org
This is a real fountain of information represented graphically with maps, pie charts and tables. It goes back to the election of 1824.
Electoral College--National Archives and Records Administrative-- http://www.nara.gov/fedreg/elctcoll/index.html
This is the official USG repository for all things related to the Electoral college.
Another good site for history and general explanation is The Green Papers at http://www.thegreenpapers.com/
Polling:
Best for day to day reporting is: Polling Report at http://www.pollingreport.com/
Campaigns and Elections--Odds
http://www.campaignline.com/odds/index.cfm
Best track record for professional political analysis and prediction of winners in all Federal contests (that includes Hillary)
Election Night fun:
Two sites that could be of use at election parties are:
An electoral college calculator: http://www.jump.net/~jnhtx/ec/ec.html
Be your own CNN and input winners state by state. Calculations are done by the website showing results on a map and by numerical electoral college vote tallies
The site: http://www.avagara.com/e_c/ec_calc.htm, lets you tally the votes, but does not have the colored map to go along with it.
For a chart of how many electoral college votes will be decided each hour based on time zone and closing time of polls see:
The Green Papers: http://thegreenpapers.com/Electors.html#Clos
Don’t know who to vote for? Answer SelectSmart’s questions, and it will tell you who you views most closely parallel:
