2) At least 547 refugees have died in West Timor 20/07/00 (Associated Press) JAKARTA - At least 547 East Timorese refugees sheltering in squalid camps throughout Indonesian-controlled West Timor have died in the past nine months, the province's governor said Wednesday.
3) Emergency aid to East Timor for rehabilitation and development 20/07/00 (Government of Japan) TOKYO - On July 14 , the Government of Japan decided to extend emergency grant aid totaling $28,710,000 to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to assist the steady progress of the process toward independence and nation-building in East Timor.

5) Pilot land mapping exercise 20/07/00 (UNTAET) DILI - UNTAET's Land and Property Unit will start a pilot mapping exercise on 26 July to determine boundaries of land in Dili.
6) UNHCR/IOM: Briefing notes 18 July 20/07/00 (UNHCR/IOM) GENEVA - UNHCR today began a two-day meeting with representatives of UN agencies and NGOs to review assistance activities in West Timor.
