Raging Gunman Thrown Out Of Parliament Complex
By Harry Aurere
SUVA: One of rebel leader George Speight's gunmen was thrown out of Parliament complex last night after he lost his cool, shouting he has "a call and duty to perform".
The man was heard swearing and insulting police manning the nearby checkpoint about 9pm. He also made threatening and insulting remarks to the gunmen guarding the elected Prime Minister, Mahendra Chaundhry.
The man was arguing with the coup guards and asked to be let back into Parliament complex, saying he has been called and has a duty to perform.
He said that he knew a lot about the issues of the crisis. He was angrily hitting and banging the gate.
He was later taken away in a vehicle at about half-past ten in the eveninig. Insiders said he was drunk.
In spite of that, Speight's supporters were still moving in and out of Parliament late in the evening and supporters were still around the boundary of the complex.. Most of them have been camped there since Friday.
