SUBJECT: Vietnam Supports Candidacy of Mrs. Lucretia Myers for ICSC
Elections and Requests Support for UNESCO Candidate
On October 14th, Embassy received a DipNote from
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Unofficial translation follows.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic
of Viet Nam presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United
State of America in Hanoi and has the honor to inform the latter
that in view of the excellent bilateral relations between two
countries, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam has
decided to support for the candidature of Mrs. Lucretia F. Myers to
the membership of the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC)
for the term 2010-2013 at the elections to be held during the 64th
Session of the United Nations General Assembly in November 2009 in
New York.
It is Viet Nam's wish and belief that the Government of the
United State of America, based on the reciprocal support in
international fora between two countries would extend its valuable
support to Viet Nam's candidature to UNESCO's Executive Board at
the elections to be held during the 35th UNESCO General Conference
on 14th of October 2009 in Paris.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic
of Viet Nam avails of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of
the United State of America in Hanoi the assurances of its highest
consideration.
