EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
1. This is an action request, see para 2.
2. (U) The Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA)
delivered a diplomatic note requesting USG support in
obtaining one of three vacant seats on the Executive
Committee of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) at
elections this month in Washington, D.C. Post requests
guidance on USG response to the MFA regarding this request.
3. (U) BEGIN TEXT OF INFORMAL TRANSLATION.
The Ministry of Foreign Relations of Colombia - Directorate
of Multilateral Political Affairs - sends its greetings to
the Honorable Embassy of the United States of America, with
the opportunity to reiterate its request for support for the
Colombian candidacy to occupy one of the three vacant seats
on the Executive Committee of the Pan American Health
Organization - PAHO -, elections that will take place in the
month of September of 2009 in Washington.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Directorate of Multilateral
Political Affairs - takes this opportunity to reiterate to
the Honorable Embassy of the United States of America the
assurances of its highest and most distinguished
consideration.
