Econoff delivered reftel talking points on September 22 to
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Department of
International Economic Affairs. On September 25, MFA
representative Pathcharamon Siriwatana informed Post via
email that the Ministry will send delegates to the FAO
budgetary meeting in Rome the week of September 28 and is
reviewing our talking points but has not yet developed a firm
position on the FAO budget. The MFA message stated the Thai
government,s view is that any budget increase must be
carefully8 and should take into account the outcomes of the
FAO meeting in Rome. It also noted that the Thai delegation
is looking forward to discussing the matter with the U.S.
