1. On November 5, Post received a congratulatory letter from the
President of the Republic of Mauritius, The Right Honorable Sir
Aneerood Jugnauth, G.C.S.K.,K.C.M.G, Q.C, addressed to
President-Elect Barack Obama. Post will send the official signed
document to the Department.
2. Following is the text of President Sir Aneerood Jugnauth's letter
in original English. Begin text:
Dear President-elect Obama,
I heartily congratulate you upon your election as the 44th President
of the United States of America. Your election confirms the
existence of democracy and its consolidation.
I sincerely hope that the USA will witness a new development under
your wise, able and youthful leadership and that it will drive the
world into a new era of change for the benefit of mankind.
I also hope that the diplomatic ties between Mauritius and the
United States of America will receive a new boost.
