1. This is an action message. See paragraphs 2-4.
2. The Department's Office of Defense Trade Controls
Compliance (PM/DTCC) requests post assistance in conducting a
pre-license check for the export of hand grenade fuzes to
Thailand. Post is requested to complete this Blue Lantern
check within 30 days. Lack of response to a Blue Lantern
check will affect pending and future licenses involving
parties to this license.
3. Reason for request: the type of hand grenade fuze listed
on the license application is for use with riot control
munitions. The Foreign End User is the Royal Thai Navy, and
no specific use for the fuzes was specified.
4. ACTION: Please contact the Foreign End User, the Royal
Thai Navy, Naval Ordnance Department, and verify its request
for the exact quantity and specific type of hand grenade fuze
listed below. Please also make inquiries to confirm intended
use. Will the fuzes be utilized in the manufacture of riot
control munitions? If not, in what type of hand grenade will
the fuzes be used? END ACTION.
