1. ESTOFF delivered ref Avian Flu demarche and nonpaper to the
Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Agro Industry, and Health. In one
follow-up conversation, Acting Permanent Secretary V. Gondeea of the
Ministry of Agro Industry confirmed that an invitation to the Avian
Flu Conference has been received through diplomatic channels.
However, due to a cabinet shuffle in Mauritius the past few days,
Mr. Gondeea could not confirm if Mauritius would be in attendance at
Sharm al-Sheikh.

2. Mr. Gondeea also pointed out that Satish Faugoo, the current
Minister of Agro Industry who until the recent shuffle was the
Minister of Health, attended the 2007 conference in New Delhi. Post
will follow up with all three ministries to confirm participation by
Mauritius and report via septel.
