SUBJECT: COLOMBIA: MARINE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AUTHORIZATIONS
REF: STATE 94522
1. Embassy Bogota Maritime Scientific Research
Authorizations Officer beginning October 17, 2008 through
October 1, 2009 will be Megan Selmon (unclassified email:
SelmonML@state.gov; tel: 011-571-383-2448).
2, Interim/alternate point of contact is Deputy Economic
Counselor William Popp (unclassified email: PoppWW@state.gov;
tel: 011-571-383-2780). Bogota Economic Section fax number
is 011-571-383-2053.
3. Post reminds the Department that the Colombian Government
requires three months' lead time, from the date of the
receipt of complete documentation, to process any maritime
scientific research authorization through its interagency
process. In order to avoid delay or disapproval of an
authorization, post needs to receive complete and accurate
authorization request information from USG agencies early
enough to satisfy the required GOC lead time.
