O September 17, Ambassador hand-delivered a letter to
Foreign Minister Rohiha Bogollagama encouraging Sri Lanka to
attend te Community of Democracies meeting to be hosted by
Mali on October 1. DCM phoned Foreign Secretary Palitha
Kohona on Septeber 20 to follow up. Kohona said Bogollagama
wasscheduled to depart New York before the meeting, bu was
considering changing his plans so that he culd attend. The
Minister's party leaves Sri Lana today. In the absence of a
firm commitment onthe part of the Foreign Minister to
attend, Embasy suggests that USUN follow up with the Sri
Lankan UNGA delegation.
