SUBJECT: GLOBAL INITIATIVE TO COMBAT NUCLEAR TERRORISM:
MOROCCO AGREES TO HOST INITIAL MEETING
REF: A. SECSTATE 153863
B. RABAT 001713
C. STATE 150122
1. Russian Ambassador called Ambassador Thomas T. Riley
September 18, 2006 to convey that Morocco had agreed to host
the initial meeting of the Global Initiative. We were
subsequently told by Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacts
that the Ministry is working on organizing and staffing the
meeting.
2. Post appreciates ref. B information. The GOM would
welcome any other background or guidance. We have no answer
yet to Washington's generous offer of a briefing team.
