(SBU) Poloff delivered reftel demarche to Deputy European
Correspondent Victoria Ortega Gutierrez on July 31. Ortega
stated that Spain supports the EU compromise position that
Burma is a member of ASEAN and is entitled to attend the ASEM
summit at the Finn's invitation. Ortega noted the many EU
nations, Spain included, view the summit as an opportunity to
raise human rights concerns with Burma.
