SUBJECT: MOZAMBIQUE: Assessment of NIH Proposed Research
Project No. AI069924 01
REF: STATE 111093
1. This is Embassy Maputo's assessment in response to
reftel.
2. Post has reviewed and clears on the NIH's proposed
research project award - Observational Antiretroviral
Studies in Southern Africa (OASIS) Collaboration - to the
Pediatric Day Hospital in Maputo, Mozambique.
3. Post does not have any foreign policy concerns with this
proposed research project, so long as the research protocol
followed conforms to U.S. and in-country guidelines and laws
for the protection of human subjects. This is a much needed
and important topic of research and can potentially increase
the availability and quality of much needed pediatric
treatment in Mozambique.
