1. (C) Early June 14, Drummond reached a tentative agreement
with leaders of the miners' union to end the 23 day-long
strike. Drummond's President of Coal Operations, Mike Tracy
of Drummond, said the agreement would be put to a vote of the
union rank and file members later in the day.
2. (C) According to Drummond, the agreement included a wage
increase and an increase in the indemnity payments for
workers that leave the company. The agreement does not
include provisions to change the company's ability to fire a
worker without "just cause" (reftel). Tracy added he would
