POLITICAL, SECURITY, HUMAN RIGHTS
Milli Gazete, Vakit, / Diyarbakir Governorate sued Ahmet
Guvener, a Turkish Christian, for building a church illegally.
U.S Ankara Embassy Economic Counselor Scott Marciel visited the
Diyarbakir Public Prosecutor on April 22 to get information
about the case. Allegedly, Guvener is reported to have received
approximately $80,000 from European countries for the building
of the church.
Ulkede Gundem / In Van, Jandarma detained 91 people who entered
Turkey illegally. The detainees are from Pakistan, Bangladesh,
and Afghanistan.
Bolge, Turkiye, Zaman / The Young Turkish Youth Parliament will
be inaugurated on May 19, 2004. Members had their first meeting
in Tarsus.
