SUBJECT: Urgent Demarche on UN action on the
Middle East

(U) Per Reftel, Mission has conveyed the urgent
demarche regarding UN action on the Middle East to the
Sri Lankan and Maldivian governments. Neither
government has provided a substantive response to the
U.S. points as of yet. In light of the urgency of this
matter, the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has
specifically requested that the U.S. points be
communicated directly to its UN delegation by the U.S.
Mission in New York.
