"Watch this space…" says Police Cook Strait swimmer
Rough seas and storms forecast for next week have foiled New Plymouth Police Senior Sergeant Karley Hunt’s plans to swim Cook Strait for charity this year.
Karley has been raising funds for Central Taranaki Blue Light, which helps young people at risk.
”There was no choice but to postpone my swim until early 2019,” she says.
“I would be putting myself and my support crew in danger and, due to this, the decision was out of my hands.”
Taking time out to watch the Commonwealth Games swimming, Karley has resolved to come back stronger and faster.
Her swim coach is preparing a maintenance conditioning routine for the next few months.
“I have been overwhelmed by the public support for Blue Light and encouragement from everyone to carry on with my mission of swimming the Cook Strait,” she says.
