3m Saddle Snow Base + Big Snowmaking Night
The Saddle Basin snow depth is currently over 3m deep at Tim’s Table (elevation 1960m), following regular snowfalls over
the past fortnight, and the groomed trails and off-piste skiing and snowboarding in the Saddle Basin are fantastic, with
the snow cover in the Saddle Basin wall-to-wall, and the best snow cover currently in the Queenstown and Wanaka region.
“We’re looking at an outstanding Spring season with anticipated Winter conditions” according to Treble Cone Race Academy
Program Director Guenther Birgmann.
Treble Cone has just had a huge snowmaking night in the Home Basin where we currently have good trail skiing
top-to-bottom on the 3km long trail Easy Rider and intermediate trail Main Street which sets the ski area up
fantastically for a great September of skiing and riding.
Overnight snowmaking stats;
· 1,000,000 gallons of water used
· Making approximately 6,250 cubic metres of snow
· Focused on Main Street, Easy Rider, and the beginner Platter
· At its peak overnight pumping 1,000 gallons of water per minute
“The overnight snowmaking has provided a really great layer of dry crystal man-made snow” says Guenther Birgmann.
The Austrian Ski Team currently have the Women’s World Cup Team, Women’s Europa Cup Team and the Men’s Europa Cup Team
at Treble Cone training.
