Rain Forces Early Close to Top Half Kart Meeting
Heavy rain forced racing to be abandoned after only three of the seven classes had completed the required four heats at the latest round of this year's CRC Speedshow-backed Top Half kart series in Auckland on Sunday.
The result was that series and bonus points were only awarded in those classes, Junior Restricted 100cc Yamaha, Formula Junior and 100cc Yamaha Light.
Hamilton's Rhys Tinney made the best of the different conditions in 100cc Yamaha Light, sharing heat wins with Tuakau driver Jonathan Buxeda, but ending up two points ahead thanks to a second in the first heat and third in the third.
Aucklander Arran Crighton continued on his winning way in Formula Junior, the class winner in the dry at the first two rounds of this year's CRC Speedshow series making it three in a row with three heat wins from four.
NZ#2 Kaleb Ngatoa made the long trip up from the Manawatu worthwhile, meanwhile, with a close - just the one point - victory over Hamilton driver Reece Hendl-Cox in Junior Restricted 100cc Yamaha.
Heading the points in the other classes before the meeting was abandoned were Mitchell Osborne (125cc Rotax Max Light), Mark Oudney (125cc Rotax Max Heavy), Steve Carter (Clubsport 120), and Samuel Wright (Cadet).
This year's CRC Speedshow-backed Top Half series consists of four rounds with the final to be hosted by the KartSport Tokoroa club on Sunday July 07.
