The kiwi bred War Affair (NZ) confirmed his status as Singapore’s most talented two-year-old with a dominant win in the last leg of Singapore’s Golden Horseshoe Series, the S$325,000 Sgp-2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe (1200m) at Kranji on Friday night.
Friday night’s Golden Horseshoe featured each
winner of the first five Series races – Rappor, Tashi,
Silver Dollar, Peace No War and War Affair, but it was War
Affair (O’Reilly x Kristique) who came out on top,
producing a powerful finish in the straight to win by a
convincing two lengths.
“He’s a pretty exciting horse,” commented Mark Walker. “He’s kept improving with age and he’s got an exciting future in Singapore. Being by O’Reilly, who’s a great sire, I think he’ll go over more ground here."

Consecutive G3 Cups
for Solzhenitsyn (NZ)
This season’s
Group 1 Toorak Handicap winner Solzhenitsyn (NZ)
returned to winning form on Saturday at Doomben when
taking his second win in the A$115,000 Group 3 Lord Mayor's
Cup (1600m).
After drawing wide, Solzhenitsyn (St Petersburg x Tri Victory) was taken to the front by jockey Michael Rodd and had to battle rival Transporter down the entire straight in a great contest before edging away to a short neck victory.
Heathcote commented after the race that Solzhenitsyn will now be aimed at the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) where he could be joined by fellow kiwi breds including Famous Seamus who has won two listed races this preparation.
