Build-up to ‘the Capital Clash’ Continues
Auckland, New Zealand, May 06, 2013 – Day two of the Vodafone Warriors’ week-long community programme building up to ‘The Capital Clash’ revolves around four events on Monday including a trip out of Wellington to Otaki.
Vodafone Warriors legends Dean Bell (Warrior #1) and Stacey Jones (Warrior #24) start out with a Monday morning breakfast event (8.00) at Vodafone’s office on Lambton Quay.
The club’s principal sponsor is also match day sponsor for ‘The Capital Clash’ against Canterbury-Bankstown at Westpac Stadium on Saturday.
It’s the Vodafone Warriors’ historic first home game played outside Auckland since coming into the competition in 1995.
After the Vodafone function, Bell, Jones, the rest of the Vodafone Warriors’ team and the eye-catching ‘Road Warrior’ will head north for a ‘Leadership in League’ event at Otaki College due to start at 10.00am. There Bell and Jones will work with Wellington Rugby League staff to introduce students to the ‘Leadership in League’ programme.
After lunch they’ll return to Wellington to help with a coaching clinic for Harbour City Eagles juniors in Newtown before finishing the day with a quiz night.
The Vodafone Warriors arrived in Wellington on Saturday after an eventful road trip from Auckland.
They were involved in two community events on Sunday, the second at Lovelocks Sports Bar in the city when they joined members and fans to watch television coverage of the Vodafone Warriors’ thrilling 25-24 NRL victory over Gold Coast at Mount Smart Stadium.
On Tuesday, the community team in Wellington will be boosted by the arrival of four players from the Vodafone Warriors’ NRL squad. They’ll join Bell and Jones for five scheduled community events.
