The Basin Reserve pitch looks set to favour the batsmen and pace bowlers in the second test between Australia and New Zealand which starts in Wellington tomorrow.
Basin Reserve turf manager Trevor Jackson said the pitch was hard with possibly some assistance for the seamers early on.
When the pitch covers were lifted yesterday for the first time in 36 hours there was lots of yellow grass on the strip which will be removed today by mowing and rolling.
Paul Wiseman may miss out on a spot as the wicket is expected to hold together well and New Zealand may well opt for more pace in the attack. Shane O'Connor is being widely tipped to fill this spot.
Play starts tomorrow at 10.30am and will go until 5.30pm each night.
