Antarctica New Zealand is delighted to announce that Sarah Williamson is the organisation’s new Chief Executive.
Ms Williamson has considerable experience with Air New Zealand in a range of roles.
With degrees in geography and psychology, and a master’s degree in Psychology, Ms Williamson says she has always been impressed with the work Antarctica New Zealand does to support science in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean.
“This is an incredible opportunity. To lead an organisation that contributes so much to the global understanding of climate is an exciting prospect,” says Ms Williamson.
Sir Brian Roche, Antarctica New Zealand’s Board Chair, says Ms Williamson is an excellent fit for the organisation.
“Sarah has displayed exceptional leadership with experience managing complex operations and service delivery. She has led regional airlines, directed global logistics and created innovative strategies to drive success with a strong focus on people and teams. We look forward to her taking the helm at Antarctica New Zealand,” he says.
Sarah Williamson will start with Antarctica New Zealand in June 2019. Until then, the organisation will continue to be led by Acting Chief Executive, Peter Smith.
