Published: Fri 21 Dec 2018 12:15 PM
GNS Science is delighted that Dr Gill Jolly has been invited to join the Forum of Chief Science Advisors working with the Prime Minister’s Chief Science Advisor, Juliet Gerrard.
“GNS is really pleased for Gill, and we believe New Zealand will be a safer and more resilient place for having her on the Forum,” Acting GNS Science Chief Executive Rose Macfarlane* said.
“Gill’s depth of experience and cool head are well-known in government circles, particularly at the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management.
“She will also be backed by the vast breadth of expertise at GNS, providing advice to decision makers but also communicating with New Zealanders about the risks we face.
“We’re really proud of Gill and we’re delighted to support her.”
Dr Jolly says she’s really excited to be joining the Forum.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Professor Gerard and the other Forum members,” she says.
“Governments need access to the best scientific advice when they’re making decisions about policy, and the Forum will make sure good science is embedded in that process.”
