Settled Weather for the Second Week of School Holidays
“A ridge of high pressure currently pushing onto the North Island and upper South Island is set to remain for the first
half of the week ahead,” April Clark MetService Meteorologist said. “What this means for most of the country is settled
and generally dry weather, with only cloud in the western regions signalled to spoil the otherwise clear skies.”
Outside of the dry weather over the north, a series of fronts are forecast to affect the lower South Island during the
working week, bringing rainfall on and off, mainly for Fiordland and the lower West Coast.
“Looking more closely at morning conditions on Anzac Day for those planning to attend the dawn services, a cloudy start
is signalled for western regions while a clear but chilly morning is expected for areas further east,” Clark reported.
In fact, this frosty start to a fine day for those east of the north south mountain ranges is a recipe which will carry
through to Friday.
