High pressure prevails for the next two weeks
New Zealand’s weather for the next two weeks is looking mostly dry and settled, thanks to a ridge of high pressure that
moves onto the country today and is expected to stick around into next week.
“Although it should be mainly dry around the country, isolated showers are still likely in some places, mainly due to
afternoon heating in inland areas,” said MetService meteorologist Stephen Glassey.
A low developing to the north of New Zealand may also bring some rain to the top of the North Island this coming
weekend. However, this low should struggle to have much impact on the rest of New Zealand, as it is quickly pushed away
to the east by the prevailing high.
Canterbury should see plenty of sunshine this week, which should be great news for those attending the Canterbury A Show from Wednesday to Friday in Christchurch.
“November typically brings quite changeable weather so a long, settled spell like this is a little bit unusual for this
time of year,” commented Glassey.
