AI Showcase Event features 7 Kiwi Businesses
“AI is the new electricity” said Andrew Ng, The Founder of Coursera & Deeplearning.ai in his keynote speech at the recent AI Frontiers Conference.
Artificial Intelligence is sparking the curiosity of technologists and business leaders in New Zealand too.
AI New Zealand, founded by Justin Flitter has hosted 5 sold out AIHappyHour events with the aim of Informing and Showcasing Kiwi businesses utilising Artificial Intelligence.
Flitter has spent the last five months meeting and interviewing many of the countries leading experts and AI practitioners. “The number of businesses utilising AI is staggering, from corporates to new start-ups, AI tech is impacting every sector in New Zealand.”
"Incorporating our humanity in AI design is critical for mainstream adoption of AI in our everyday lives." – Victor Yuen – Head of Product, FaceMe
“Some people have the preconceived misconception that AI is correlated to human redundancy, when in fact it doesn’t have to be. AI empowers improved output efficiency, can eliminate mundane repetitive tasks and provide more informed decision making. Therefore, it can free up human resources to higher value-add stages of the workflow.” William Chomley, CEO of Imagr.
"AI and Machine Learning are already impacting our everyday lives and Homes.co.nz is ensuring the property market is no different" says Tom Linton, Data Scientist at Homes.co.nz.
Justin Flitter is hosting an AI Showcase Event at the new Generator @GRIDAKL Innovation Precinct on November 16th.
“I want to help the broader non-technical business community understand what Artificial Intelligence is and provide examples of how other businesses are developing and using AI.”
The Showcase event features 7 Kiwi businesses sharing 10 minute quick fire talks followed by a panel discussion.

• Tom Linton - Data Scientist at Homes.co.nz
• Adnaan Velji - Data Scientist from Dexibit
• Andy Higgs - Centrality.AI
• William Chomley - CEO of Imagr
• Danny Tomsett - CEO and Founder of FaceMe.com
“This is the perfect opportunity for the AI Curious to hear about the work these companies are doing, learn about AI and start thinking about the opportunities AI could create for their business.” says Justin Flitter.
IMAGR CEO William Chomley will be exploring how their AI product SMARTCART will enable retailers to offer a truly personalised in-store customer experience by bringing the digital into the physical.
Tom Linton is a Data Scientist at Homes.co.nz; the home of property in New Zealand. “We are applying AI and Machine Learning to better inform more than 350,000 Kiwi’s about property by providing free HomesEstimates, RentEstimates and more.”
