$6000 Prize for Paper Proving Carbon Dioxide Causes Dangerous Warming
A prize of $6000 has been offered to the first person – or group – who can produce a peer-reviewed paper based on real
world evidence that satisfies an independent scientific panel that the paper proves beyond reasonable doubt that
man-made carbon dioxide has and will cause measurable global warming that, based on predictive methods that have been
shown to be accurate, is very likely to be dangerous to mankind by 2050.
The prize will be administered by the New Zealand Climate Science Coalition (NZCSC). The offer is valid for 12 months.
Papers submitted will be judged by an independent panel of three people who must have experience in sciences relevant to
climate change and statistical analysis. One will be chosen by the NZCSC, one by the applicant for the prize and the
third will be selected by negotiation between the two selected experts.
“As we are told that 97% of climate scientists believe that man-made global warming is real and dangerous, we look
forward to getting many applications for the prize,” said a spokesman for the Coalition. “Especially so in the light of
the report in Thursday’s New Zealand Herald of the New Zealand Attitudes and Values Study, a national probability sample
study that has been tracking New Zealanders' social attitudes, personality and health outcomes since 2009, and described
as ‘the first longitudinal study indicating that climate-change belief is increasing over time.’
“This is an issue of science, and should be backed by the proven scientific method involving hypothesis,
experimentation, analysis and falsification, rather than simply assertions of opinion and belief. If such a credible
scientific paper is available, we would welcome it,” the Coalition spokesman concluded.
