Call for events and activities for science and tech festival

Hutt City Council is seeking expressions of interest for events and activities for the 2016 Hutt STEMM Festival, which will run from 4 - 12 June.

This year's festival will build on the success of last year's inaugural line-up featuring events and activities in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing and Mathematics (STEMM).

Events and activities are sought that will engage business, schools, STEMM professionals and the wider community.

General Manager Kim Kelly says the STEMM Festival is an opportunity for the city to showcase its strength as one of New Zealand's leading growth centres and capture imaginations.

"Council is committed to working with industry leaders on the continued growth of Lower Hutt as one of New Zealand's leading export and economic growth centres, based on the STEMM sectors.

"We want to spark conversations about STEMM and shine a spotlight on the existing and future opportunities in our city to be part of these exciting sectors.

"The Hutt STEMM Festival caters for a diverse audience from school children learning about the magic of science and technology for the first time, right through to experts in their fields.

"There really will be something for everyone at the Festival and we look forward to welcoming expressions of interest from others who can work with us to make this year even better than the last."

Expressions of interest are open until 5pm, Monday 11 April and can be made online at www.huttstemm.nz
