Nominations Extended for Seaweek 2015 Ocean Champion
NZAEE Seaweek has extended the timescale for nominations to find the Seaweek “Ocean Champion” for 2015 by 10 days to close on Friday 30 January 2015.
Visit the Seaweek website at seaweek.org.nz to nominate your “Ocean Champion” and celebrate all those individuals, groups and organizations who work so hard to look after our seas and the marine life that lives in them.
Voting will open on 1 February 2015. The 9 nominees received to date are all featured on the Seaweek website.
The winner will be
announced during Seaweek 2015 and will receive a prize of
$500 donated by the
New Zealand Coastal Society.
Seaweek National
Coordinator Dr Mels Barton says “We are conscious that
many people are only just returning from their holidays and
don’t want them to miss out on nominating their Ocean
Champion so we thought it was worth extending the nomination
period.”
The theme for this year’s Seaweek, which runs from Saturday 28 February to Sunday 8 March 2015, is “Look beneath the surface - Papatai ō roto - Papatai ō raro”
“Exciting events are starting to flood in for Seaweek 2015 and we will be listing these on the website at seaweek.org.nz as we receive them, so check back regularly to see what’s happening in your area.”
The Seaweek team would love to hear what events your school or group is doing to explore this year’s theme, ‘Look beneath the surface - Papatai ō roto - Papatai ō raro’ and help you with publicity and resources. Please let the National Coordinator, Mels Barton know your ideas and plans: mels@subliminal.co.nz
Seaweek 2015 is supported by ASB Community Trust, Department of Conservation, NZ Marine Studies Centre, University of Otago, Auckland Council, the DSP Print Group Ltd, New Zealand Coastal Society, Ministry for Primary Industries and many local sponsors.
