Press Advisory: Generation Zero launches Bike to the Future

Youth group, Generation Zero, are ecstatic at Auckland Council’s decision to trial separated cycle lanes on Karangahape road and will be celebrating the announcement with a ride through the protected areas on Sunday the 28th of September.

What: Generation Zero is holding an event for people to celebrate our successful campaign for protected cycle lanes on Karangahape Road, and to push for more investment in cycling in the city.

The organisation will lead a procession of hundreds of people on bikes down Ponsonby and Karangahape Road’s to show the real demand for cycle lanes in Auckland and to demonstrate the effect separated cycleways will have in the city.

People will ride through a mock up of the protected areas the council has promised to trial for a portion of the ride. The route will end at St Kevins Arcade with food and drinks from the businesses which supported the protected cycle lanes and a small market with bike related stalls.

When: 10:30 AM Sunday 28th of September

Where: Meeting at the corner of Ponsonby and Karangahape Roads. Cycling down and back up Ponsonby Road, Down K Rd, ending at St Kevins Arcade.
