FINALISTS NAMED IN NEW ZEALAND DIVAs
Tourism NZ, TRA and Colmar Brunton vying for data viz kudos
The winner of the New Zealand Data Insight Innovation Award (DIVA) will be announced in Auckland at the Research Effectiveness Awards 2014 on 26 September.
‘The entries show the great quality of data visualization that goes on here in New Zealand. The ideas are fantastic, and showcasing them in the DIVAs will inspire others to look at new ways of communicating their research insights,’ says judge Kenneth Aiolupotea, head of market research and engagement at the Auckland Council.
Ten strong contenders submitted entries which highlight the value of visualising consumer insight data. The judging panel settled on three finalists, namely ‘Pasta sauces: finding the path to success’ by Christine O’Sullivan from Colmar Brunton, ‘The Listening Project’ by Colleen Ryan, Danica Atkins, Alister Hitchcock and Leigha Selby from TRA, and ‘New Zealand tourism markets infographics’ by David Sakey and Bevan Wait from Tourism New Zealand.
Judge Patricio Pagani of Infotools
says: ‘The DIVAs go a long way to achieving our objective
of encouraging the discipline of data viz in market research
more widely. I am thrilled that our finalists have created
visualizations that are precise, compelling, pithy and
relatable. Having judged similar competitions in Europe and
the US, I can say that the finalists were amongst the best,
worldwide.’
The DIVA award is sponsored around the
world by Infotools and the GreenBook, and in New Zealand in
conjunction with the Auckland Council.
